Dear Doctor Fred,
I can't thank you enough for the beautiful and
moving Berit Mila that you performed for our son Max. You
performed this mitzvah in a way which my husband Charles and
I will never forget. You created such a spiritual atmosphere
and gently drew in all who were present.
You explained what the ceremony was about in a way
that everyone&emdash;Jewish or not&emdash;could understand
and relate to. You put my family at ease, especially my
mother-in-law, who is not Jewish and knew nothing about this
vital event in a Jewish boy's life. Prayer, education and
occasional and appropriate humor were all part of the
ceremony and blended in a way that involved and moved
everyone.
Charles and I so appreciate the time you spent with
us before the ceremony. You held the baby and took some time
to get to know and relax him. You also talked with the two
of us and helped us to understand our roles in this holy day
in Max's life.
As for the medical aspects of the process, you gave
us an extremely clear explanation of the circumcision
process and when you said that it would take a mere 60
seconds you weren't kidding. Your instructions for caring
for Max following the Berit Mila were also thorough and
specific and you took the time to make sure we had all the
correct items for aftercare. We heard from you a number of
times in the days after the ceremony; you were checking up
on Max. We were happy to hear from you and to report that he
was (and is!!!) doing splendidly.
If and when we are blessed with another child you will be
among the first people to know and we hope you would perform
another unforgettable Berit Mila or Brit bat for us.
Thanks again for an experience we shall always
cherish.
Fondly,
Amy Bickers
P.S. Please tell Charlotte that we thank her for the
stunning baby naming certificate she created for us which is
framed and hanging in Max's room.
