Dear Dr. Kogen:
Dorine and I just wanted to thank you again for the
wonderful bris ceremony and circumcision you performed on
our son, Noah Domenic.
I'd like to compare your ceremony to a bris we attended
recently performed by an Orthodox Mohel based in San
Francisco. The Mohel entered the room, had us all say
"Baruch Habah", said a prayer or two, performed the
circumcision in a somewhat crude fashion, said Mazel Tov,
and then basically left the room (at least mentally).
Contrarily, your ceremony was a detailed and encapturing
presentation of both the spiritual and celebatory aspects
of a bris. You involved our entire families, and engaged
everyone there in an understanding of what was occurring and
its importance. You also showed concern and compassion for
Noah's welfare. The circumcision itself was perfect and left
Noah in little discomfort. Further, you followed up with at
least three phone calls over the next couple of weeks. You
even connected us with a local synagogue suitable to our
circumstances. Finally, your warm personality captured the
celebatory atmosphere of the event.
In sum, I convey our deep appreciation and thanks for a
wonderful experience. Please feel free to share this
correspondence as you deem appropriate, and please stay in
touch.
