To the Dinerstein's great joy
My sister gave birth to Samuel,
A beautiful, baby boy.
We were thrilled beyond belief
He's like a gift from up above,
It's amazing how such a tiny thing
Can make you feel such love.
There is lots of expectation
For the road that lies ahead
First steps, and school and soccer games
Or perhaps, lacrosse instead.
Uncle Teets will teach him basketball
And Zoe, how to play
Mom and Dad will keep him safe and warm
And he'll grow with every day.
He will be his cousin's best friend
And he'll be head of his class
He'll go to Penn or maybe Yale
Is that too much to ask?
He'll learn all the things we teach him
And some things we don't as well
You'll be proud, you'll be frustrated
And he'll raise a little hell.
He'll get scrapes and cuts and boo-boos,
He'll have disappointments too,
But he'll learn that strength comes from within
Not from what's dealt o you.
There's so much anticipation
For this new and vibrant life
He"ll be grown before we know it
And we'll watch him take a wife.
But for now you have this baby
Who's just perfect in everyway
His whole life lies out before him
May he enjoy it every day.
So on this day, I wish and pray
With all the love I can,
For a life that's filled with health and joy
For little baby Sam.
